Overview:
Welcome to the world of barefoot massage therapy—yes, we mean using your feet to deliver effective, therapeutic bodywork.
In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to foundational techniques using a high stool system, typically positioned against a wall, though adaptable with props or yoga straps. The focus is on helping working therapists deliver gentle yet deep, therapeutic work to the upper and mid back, shoulders, chest wall, and neck—all using your feet as the primary point of contact. You’ll explore smooth transitions & develope an intuitive feel for when to use forefoot, full sole, or heel to address soft tissue and support joint mobility.
If you’re even a little curious about what it’s like to offer massage with your feet—and passionate about preserving your body in practice—this is a workshop worth experiencing. It brings a fresh approach to palpation and gives you insight into whether you’d like to explore more barefoot techniques in the future.
One of the biggest advantages? You can immediately integrate what you learn into your existing treatment space—no elaborate equipment or modifications required.
Whether you’re aiming to diversify your toolkit or reduce physical strain, this approach opens new possibilities for clinical effectiveness, therapist longevity, and a more fluid, sustainable workflow.
You’ll discover how to use your feet as precise, expressive tools—capable of gliding, compressing, and connecting with tissue in a grounded, responsive way—all while maintaining a strong therapeutic presence.
