Course Description

This one-day, practical course will focus on the therapist’s ability to assess and treat shoulder stiffness. Shoulder biomechanics and how to recognize capsular restrictions will be taught and demonstrated. Manual therapy techniques will focus on specific glenohumeral mobilizations targeting different parts of the capsule.  This course is designed to challenge the therapist’s clinical reasoning skills, and the knowledge gained will be easy to apply to clinical practice immediately.

Course Objectives

  • What special tests should you use to rule in a labral tear?
  • How should the humeral head move during the shoulder’s range of motion?
  • What range of motion stresses the anterior and posterior capsule?
  • How do you recognize and treat anterior and posterior capsule tightness/instability?

What to Bring

  • Portable massage table (1 for 2 participants)
  • Participants must wear appropriate clothing so that the neck, shoulder, and upper back can be exposed for hands-on learning sessions.
  • The instructor will provide a digital course handout, exercise sheets, and certificates of completion for each participant.
